Castor Oil is a vegetable Oil obtained from the Castor bean. Castor Oil is a colourless to very pale yellow liquid with mild or no odor or taste. Its bOiling point is 313 °C (595 °F) and its density is 961 kg/m3. It is a triglyceride in which approximately 90 percent of fatty acid chains are ricinoleic acid . Industrial Castor Oil, which is obtained from a mixture of the first pressing and the second phase of pressing or solvent extraction and further neutralizing by steam stripping.This is also called commercial grade Castor Oil.Commercial Grade, obtained from the seeds , is a pale yellow, viscous, Oily liquid insoluble in water. It contains more than 87% of a unique hydroxy fatty acid viz. Ricinoleic acid. Commercial Grade is the starting material for manufacturing different grades of Castor Oil and its derivatives.
